Israeli startup SolarOr has developed a unique photovoltaic panel that does away with the ugly, industrial-looking visage of the traditional solar panel and makes it more décor-friendly. Called the BeeHive PV, the solar panel is made of resilient acrylic solar panels that look like a honeycomb. The solar panels look brilliant and sculptural and positioned along the facade of buildings facing the sun producing 140 watts of electricity per square meter.
The solar panels provide highly efficient electricity producing modules while their transparent make and innovative textured look allows them to be seamlessly integrated within the exterior décor of offices and homes alike. Since the concept uses Building Integrated Photo Voltaic (BIPV) solar panels, they also add to the insulation to an extent and can thus be merged further into the energy-saving design of structures.
