Bill Gates owns a huge mansion valued at $148 million. It took around seven
years to build the property from scratch. Cutler Anderson Architects and Bohlin
Cywinski Jackson played a major role in the design and construction of the palatial
mansion that was built at a cost of $63 million. Gates paid around $14 million
to acquire the vacant plot in 1998.The home, also referred to as Xanadu 2.0
serves as the permanent residence of the former Microsoft chairman and his wife
and daughter. Real estate experts reckon that just the annual property tax on
the villa amounts to a staggering $1.06 million.

Location:  Gates’ home is situated in the city of Medina in the American province of Washington.

Accommodation: The estate is spread over 5 acres of wooded land. The main home is a multi-level
building offering approximately 66,000 square feet of living space and comes
equipped with several spacious bedrooms, a huge 1000 square feet living room,
library and dining room. The outdoor area contains a guesthouse and a twenty
car underground garage. The Pacific lodge styled property offers majestic views
of Lake Washington.

Features: The software design Bill’s villa bears a strong technological imprint and
perfectly complements the software mogul’s tech savvy image. The earth sheltered
house has been equipped with many high end electronic systems. The most
interesting of all the hi-tech systems is the option to wear a GPS enabled pin
that allows guests to control things like room temperature, lighting and music as
per individual preferences. Luxury features inside the Gates family home
include a 60 feet swimming pool fitted with an underwater music system, high definition
LCD monitors in almost all the rooms, a 2500 square feet fitness center and
heated floors.

Neighborhood:  Amazon founder Jeff Bezos owns a home near
Gates’ villa.
