Washing dishes is one of the most cumbersome job that almost everyone detests. The dishwashing problem can be sorted out with a dishwasher but then the space crunch and the hefty price tag are a challenge. And installment of dishwasher requires redesigning of the kitchen as the regular dishwashers are built-ins. But you can get rid of this tiresome job by installing the smallest dishwasher, practically of the size of the microwave in your house. This will occupy very less space than the bulky dishwasher and will save your time and energy of washing dishes. However, before you jump onto the idea of getting the smallest dishwasher, you must consider a few important things.

The first major aspect to be thought about is the requirement of your household. When we say small dishwasher, we mean the smaller and compact in size other than the standard built-in dishwasher model. The size can vary based on the type of the small dishwasher you are opting for. The various types of small dishwashers are as follows:

1. Countertop Dishwasher: The countertop dishwashers, the smallest ones available in the market, as the name suggests, can be placed on the kitchen counter and can be attached via kitchen sink faucets. Countertop dishwashers are ideal for single people or young couple as these dishwashers can manage 4 place settings in a single load.

2. Portable Dishwashers: Portable dishwashers are the smaller version of built-in dishwashers of the size of around 18 inches. This means that these portable dishwashers can be used as counter top dishwashers with larger capacity. These portable dishwashers can be connected through the kitchen sink and can be a suitable option for a family with greater number of dishes to be cleaned up, but doesn’t have the budget for redesigning the kitchen for the installation of built-in dishwashers.

3. Slimline Dishwashers: Slimline dishwashers are the closest to the built-in dishwashers as they are permanently plumbed into the kitchen. The only difference is the size as these are not as wide as the regular dishwashers are.

Features
The compact or smaller dishwasher doesn’t mean that you will not have adequate features in it. However, you will not have the additional features, which you may not require also. It’s important to understand the features of the dishwasher to determine whether you require it or not. If you don’t require the additional feature, then there is no point why you should pay the extra amount to have one. At the same time if you require the feature, it’s always beneficial to pay a bit extra to get it.

Detriments
The only detriment that the smallest dishwashers have is that, if you have large number of dishes to clean up then you will have to repeat the cleaning process several times, consuming more electricity and making it more tiresome. Another important factor is, if portability is the strength of small dishwashers, it is a weakness as well. If you store your dishwasher somewhere else than kitchen to maximize space then transporting the appliance from one place to another can lead to damage, scratch or bumping and can harm it.

These facts should be considered while buying ‘smallest dishwasher’ for your home. If maximizing the space is your priority and you don’t have too much of dish clean up requirements then small and compact dishwashers are safe for you.
