How to decorate a room which has dark furniture using bright and colored accessories?

My husband and I bought a new leather living room sofa set. It is so nice but it's very dark. I knew it was dark but I didn’t realize until we got it home. I like it but I want to know what other color accessories I can use to brighten it up. I have light hardwood floors, fireplace trimmed in white; beige walls and white trim. I also have two mustard color vases on the fireplace. My sofa set also includes a ottoman that I am using as a coffee table. I don't have end tables or lamps yet. What bright and colored accessories should I put with a dark brown leather living room sofa set so as to make my living room look perfect combination of dark and bright colors? Please advice. Thanks.

It is a good thing that other hues used in to room are lighter; the light hues will break the monotony and create interest. Your second thought is also brilliant, surely you will need to use dark shades now as lighter ones will only make the room appear dull.

Tones of gray and brown are a good choice. Try dark brown with chocolaty hints. Gray is an excellent choice; you can use both dark as well as light shades of gray. A metallic silvery gray will also work well. Purple is a fantastic shade. Plums, eggplant and lavender will brighten up the interiors. Deep tones of blue like navy and peacock will also look terrific.

Dusty yellow and not a sunny one will blend with this dark hue. Mustard is also a good pick. Deep tones of green are a good idea. Ochre, olive or leafy, emerald or minty green will blend well. You can even try a shade with yellow and green mixed together, something in between these two shades.

A pop of pink and red will do wonders for your room, but make sure that they are really deep and dark. Wine based and boozy reds are a great choice. Cranberry will go really well. Go for brown with red undertones. Other hues you can choose are ebony and mahogany.
