The original Egg chair was designed by Arne Jacobsen for the Radisson Hotel (Copenhagen) all the way in 1958. It was manufactured by the Republic of Fritz Hansen and still is manufactured under that name. The Egg is a very difficult chair to make and was designed in a style that was synonymous to Jacobsen and that is by using state-of-the-art material. The Egg is thought to be inspired by the Womb Chair that was designed by Eero Saarinen, however the former looked more complete as a design.
