If you are in interiors and all, there is no way how you'd have missed hearing about CHI, the universal energy in Feng Shui that resides everywhere, from the interior to the exterior of the buildings. According to Feng Shui, Chi expresses itself in different shapes and forms. The main objective of Feng Shui is to channelize this energy to enter your home and to make your life better.

You first step should be to channelize the Chi with the help of Bagua map. This map isn't a tedious task. All you need are pieces of papers and pencils. Now draw your home on a piece of paper (the outline, it maybe rectangular or square or shape of your house). In case the shape of your house is odd, you'll choose a shape that resembles it the closest. Now draw your home, within this space.

Design your house with Feng Shui:

Select a shape for your house. Water views are preferred in Feng Shui. It is good if you have square or rectangular shape because this is considered ideal. The front door needs special attention. It should be placed in a manner that the accessibility from the road isn't disturbed. Also, make sure that this main gate should never form a straight line with other gates. Windows and stairs need equal attention. There should never be two front entries, or back to back doors.

Now come the ceilings, they should be high and well-lit. Long corridors or any sort of disturbing or cramped floor plans are better avoided.

Another factor that is usually overlooked is lighting arrangement. Understand that they have different effect over moods. So it's better to understand the chemistry between lights, moods, and color.

The form and design of the room should be relaxing. The decor shouldn't be overdone. This reduces the comfort factor. Place the sofas and other furniture pieces in a manner that the guests face the door instead of turning their back towards it. Also, placing of the furniture is better when not kept too close to the walls. A circular sofa would be a better idea.
