A designer from the Netherlands has designed a highly functional product- The Door Claxon. The designer in his unique design has given the conventional and mundane doorknob, an interesting twist. In the Door Claxon, the doorknob does more than just letting someone in; this product actually lets you know when someone enters the room by producing a honking sound! It basically merges the functions of a doorbell and a doorknob.

This product has been created by Dieter Volkers, from Netherlands. For Volkers the casual mundane actions of daily life, like passing through a door, are a source of inspiration. His collection represents and celebrates the numerous day-to-day actions that we perform. For this designer, the “normal” things are central to his designs.

The other pieces that he has designed, apart from the Door Claxon, bear testimony to this fact. All the pieces, like Clothes Pegs, Softball Lamps, Inventory Caps Ball Clamps and so on, are objects that we need in our daily activities, they are all functional and useful and Volkers just adds his own creative vision to these ordinary objects, and transforms them into extraordinary and interesting little gems.

All About The Door Claxon

The Door Claxon looks like any other regular doorknob, but it is attached to a squishy pink colored ball, that can be squeezed. The juxtaposition of something as rigid as the metallic knob with that soft squishy ball which takes any shape is pretty interesting.

The Unique Features Of The Door Claxon

The metallic knob on the inside, allows you to let people in, while the pink soft ball on the outside acts as a pseudo-doorbell. But this product is safe because the system works one-way and the squishy ball does not allow people to unlock the door. So along with being a functional and interesting product, it does not compromise on safety issues.

What’s Different About The Door Claxon?

Another impressive feature of this product is the sheer simplicity of design. Usually products that combine several features turn out to be complicated ones, which are difficult to install, this product only consists of the metallic knob, the soft ball horn, a metal grommet, which hold the thing together and a reed that allows the honking. It will not be wrong to conclude that Volkers has successfully designed a product that is not only stylish and interesting but also extremely simple and functional.
