What is it?
The Light Timer is a different category of alarm clock that stimulates a person’s sense of sight for the purpose of waking him/her up. Regular alarm clocks use our sense of hearing as a stimulus but the Light Timer is a sight-based alarm clock that can be used for awakening people suffering from hearing disabilities and for normal people as well. The timer mechanism is the main idea that operates the Light Timer. A small bronze switch is attached to the timer that continuously moves once the alarm-time is preset on the clock.

The Overview:
Clocks always tend to stimulate out auditory senses for awakening us. This led the inventor of the Light Timer to question as to whether other senses apart from the usual sound could also be stimulated for waking up people. The concept of a sight-based alarm clock does justice to those people having hearing impairments and also appeals to normal people as well. This new concept altogether makes waking up a different experience altogether and proves to be effective as well.
Features:
The underlying principle of the Light Timer is to make use of sight as the basis for waking people up. The Light Timer can be teamed up with a regular alarm clock as well for waking up. It is ideal for awakening people with impaired hearing by stimulating their sense of sight; furthermore, the clock can also detect a fire emergency and can perform dual function of warning the user of an emergency situation. The timer mechanism, which has a small bronze switch is the most important component of the Light Timer. The timer moves continuously once the user has preset the alarm’s time.
The Light Timer also has a wavelength detector component that can receive audio signals from the smoke detector, switching the lights on and off in order to visually exhibit a fire emergency in the house.
What's different?
Many clocks are available today that stimulate the auditory senses and many of them are unique in their own special way. However, the need of the day was a more effective alarm that could make use of other senses and not only sound. This led to another idea of creating an alarm clock that would be helpful for people with hearing impairment – as no matter what kind of noise is produced by an alarm clock it still does not stimulate their auditory senses. Hence, the designer developed the Light Timer with the sole purpose of satisfying both the normal people and those suffering from hearing impairment – creating an alarm producing both sound and sight stimulation.
