Fairytale themed bedroom design ideas for boys and girls

Grade schoolers can’t get enough of fairytales. They love
being read the same fairytale story every night for months on end and they also
love to surround themselves with fairytale toys and stickers. Creating a
fairytale themed bedroom can indeed bring the magic and wonder of a tale alive
for a child. Here are a few fairytale themed bedroom ideas that your kids will
love.

1. Cinderella theme

A Cinderella theme appears good in theory but it can be very
hard to recreate in reality. However, if you have some budget to spare, a
carriage shaped bed or a glass slipper shaped chair could be used along with
wall murals to bring the theme alive.

2. The Swan Princess
theme

The Swan Princess is one of the most beloved fairytales of
all time. And just like Cinderella, it is hard to get right in a bedroom. But if
you already have the Barbie Swan Princess merchandize, you can go ahead and
create a Swan shaped bed using Paper Mache to get the full effect.

3. Alice in
Wonderland theme

Alice in Wonderland is way too vivid a theme for kids’
bedroom. But it also is very exciting and surprisingly easy to do as it
requires one to throw eccentric pieces of furniture together.

4. The Little Mermaid
theme

The little mermaid theme is perfect for rooms where siblings
of the opposite sex share a bedroom as the dark blue and bubblegum pink bedroom
and plenty of marine themed merchandize would appeal to both kids.

5. Jack and the
Beanstalk theme

For a distinct boy-themed fairytale bedroom, jack and the
beanstalk is an ideal, low cost theme.

6. Aladdin theme

Aladdin is another favorite theme with both boys and girls. If
siblings need to share the same room, you can put Aladdin and jasmine pictures around
the girl’s bed and Aladdin and Genie pictures close to the boy’s bed.

7. Shrek theme

Shrek isn’t technically an ancient fairytale but is has become
very popular with children of all ages. Perfect for unisex shared bedrooms, the
wooden and green color scheme can easily be converted into a more grown up one
when the kids hit their teens.

8. Pinocchio theme

For a boy’s bedroom, a Pinocchio theme can be a great
alternative to more violent pirate, soldiers and gun themes.
