This innovative composting machine called ‘Gaia’ is designed by Soonjae Kwon for domestic purposes. This is a great way to reuse biodegradable kitchen waste as Gaia has a very effective individual bagasse and compost capturing units. The machine comprises of a Cyclonic Helix ball grinder that is made out of durable stainless steel for effectively grinding the waste matter. The waste is then pressurized in a double layered ceramic container that is sealed in order to prevent heat from escaping. You won’t have to bother about odor escaping the composter as there is a provision of a charcoal double filter that takes care of that. Apart from that the machine also has a bagasse cartridge that stores up the bagasse that can be used along with the organic compost.
The Gaia is compact that makes it easy to keep in the kitchen, apart from that, it makes good use of food that can be broken down into useful compost and bagasse. A study conducted in 1997 revealed that around 27 percent of consumable food amounting to a whopping 96.4 billion pounds was wasted during that year, eventually rotting away in landfills. A lot of studies reveal that only a small percentage of food waste eventually gets recycled which depicts the great amount of waste food that can potentially be converted into something useful. Hence, the Gaia is an extremely compact and useful solution to tackle the problem of food waste not being disposed of in the right manner as your personal composting unit can take care of that part.
The Gaia is user-friendly and ergonomically designed to ensure optimum functionality. This elegantly designed composting unit has a user-friendly interface in the shape of a dial that depicts the processing status apart from that the Gaia has an intelligence mechanism wherein the time and function of the processing would be set automatically after assessing the quantity and type of waste inserted. The Gaia is five times quieter in operation and five times faster as well, hence, it is energy-efficient as well.
