With an aim to reinvent an Italian classiccoffee-making gadget, James Freeman the founder of Blue Bottle has refurbished the most timehonoredand recognizable kitchen gadget Moka Potinto an ultra moderncoffee-making machine, which complements contemporary living. To redesign the classic MokaPot, Freeman has collaborated with industrial designer Joey Roth, renowned for his ceramic speakers.
Difference
Paying tribute to world most misunderstood brewing process, the new version of Moka Pot varies only in design but not in functioning.While the conventional Italian moka pot supports tall aluminum structure, the Roth and Freeman creation utilizes a steel bottom and porcelain top. Apart from design, Roth has also optimized the volume of water chamber, coffee basket and the diameter of the filter mesh, to create a perfectly brewed coffee.
Design
Supporting a simple design, the new version of pot is both easy on the eyes and in use. To offer perfectly brewed coffee, the aluminum is replaced with steel base, while the longer brew spout cools water to the prefect temperature. The traditional plastic handle is replaced with new handle design that is inspired by Turkish ibirk and supports long metal and cork handle.
Working
Similar to the older version, to brew a perfect heated coffee, pour water into the steel chamber and place ground coffee in the middle chamber. The serving chamber made from ceramic goes on top of the steel chamber. Now place the pot on top of stove, as the water boils stream pressure pushes water up the brewing nozzle, through coffee grounds. Thus reaching the serving chamber where it is ready to for drinking.
Measurement and Price
Availableexclusively at Bay Area, New York and Los Angeles, the Joey Roth + Blue Bottle Coffee Moka Pot is priced $99 and offers best quality of coffee than any typical Moka Pot.The new pot has the capacity to produce six ounces of coffee with 15 gram of ground coffee, amount that equates to small cup of coffee in comparison to a normal mug.
