Narrowest home in the world stands at just 1 meter wide

Austrian designer and architect Erwin Wurm is the man behind
what we can easily christen the narrowest residence on the face of the planet. At
just one meter wide, the home may seem like it has been constructed inside a
corridor in another larger residence, but it actually is a fully functioning home.

Much of the home’s functionality, despite its extremely narrow
width, has been achieved thanks to the fact that it is actually 16 meters long
and this kind of space actually allowed the designer to fit in most modern amenities
into the unusual home with ease.

Of course, to optimize the narrow space inside the home, the
designer had to use specially made narrow plumbing and furniture. Even though
it is absolutely an uncommon design, the fact that the home comes with flat and
narrow cabinet, bookshelf and a modestly decorated bathroom too. To make the
home cozy, the bedroom was given a full sized bed though there really wasn’t any
space left over for anything else to fit in there.

Even though most people would feel rather claustrophobic in
the space, the home was designed to be efficient and thus, tables and chairs
used in the space are totally foldable so they don’t hog any space on the floor
when not in use. A bright color scheme and attractive curtains make up for the
lack of spatial cheer in the unusually narrow home.
