Papertale: A multiltouch interactive table for children

This innovative gadget on a table called ‘Papertale’ created specifically for kids in the ages 2-5 years, is a creative way for peer and adult interaction through a medium that is of great interest to children these days that is the digital media. Playing on computers and even educational computer games and sessions, basically confine the child to the computer alone, however, this unique creation by Jessica Downey would ensure that the children interact, play and create with others around. This enables a stimulating environment wherein the children use modern digital media to build a dialogue pertaining to fairytales that form the main content of the Papertale.

The children by using this friendly multitouch table, make their own drawings in a three dimensional way using a color palette, eraser and pencil tools. The whole functioning of the Papertale is quite simple and user-friendly for these young children with its colorful graphics and multitouch surface. Creativity is at its peak at this tender age, and using the fairytale characters, by bringing them near or far from one another which results in their reactions which the children try to understand in the simulated environment.

The Papertale not only increases the creativity of the children but also fosters socialization with peers and also increases verbal communication. Above all, the children get to play with high-end digital tools and achieve a level of comfort with them.
