Rocky Lamp: The swinging multicolored egg that creates a cheerful atmosphere

Here is a special golden egg that not only keeps swinging on its base but also makes your colorful emotions swing along. As part of a project submitted for the James Dyson Award, this innovative lamp named Rocky was designed to give a new style and dimension to a traditional lighting device. The idea for Rocky's design was inspired by the mast-head light of a boat that sails on twisty waves yet maintaining its balance through the gravitational pull. Additionally, the project aimed at doing away with conventional-style light bulbs and coming out with something that can create a colorful surrounding for the user.

Rocky is designed to be an interactive, egg-shaped light that could be a very advanced version of a normal floor lamp. Working on the ship jack principle, this lamp can create a momentum that might make you impulsive to play with it. At this lamp's varied inclination angles, different colors are assigned so they create a moving rainbow effect when the lamp tilts from a condition of balance to imbalance and vice versa. The intensity of its light also varies in accordance with the shifting inclination angle. But the fact is taken care that you may not always feel like enjoying these changing lights. Per your momentary moods, you have the flexibility to select a color of your choice and place Rocky on the floor like a usual lamp.

Rocky - A lamp for atmosphere and fun

The development of this lamp involved consideration of the aspect that it should not be an edgy or angled device and must have an emotional element attached to it. That was the reason behind selecting an egg-shaped design. An additional benefit of this shape appears as being non-damaging and harmless. For creating the semicircular egg sub-shell, aluminum is chosen to be used as it also gives the spinning effect to Rocky. In order to best emit all lighting colors, the dispersive plexiglass is used. As this lamp in intended to work along your growing life years, long-spanning RGBW LEDs are used to reflect a soothing glow and multiple lighting effects.These sustainable LEDs are also energy-saving. Additionally, for the first time, acceleration sensors are used in a lamp to control the lighting effects. Thus, this special object keeps your environment rocking per its name.
