The sci-fi coffee table by Sam Hewitt is an innovative piece of home furniture that appears to be like a robot sitting in your living room. Based on the designer’s imagination, architecture, natural forms and science fiction, utilizing metal bar joints and contrasting timbers (to give the appearance of mechanized joints), with one component moving over another, and the body with laser engraved circuit detailing, the table has been specifically designed to appear anatomical. Exhibiting both traditional and contemporary joints, laser engraving, an effective use of veneers, an interpretation of fan construction in the door all make this coffee table one of a kind.
