Making the planet pollution-free is one target of researchers and designers around the world. The latest news along these lines is a Utah-based company which has come up with a device that can store sun energy and utilize it to run the entire home. Good things come in small packages. Invented by researchers at Ceramatec, the petite looking ceramic disk has the capacity to hold up to 20-kilowatt hours of energy, which is a pretty good amount to power an entire house for a large portion of the day. It runs on sodium-sulfur at less than 200°F due to its thin ceramic membrane sandwiched between the two, the positive sodium ions when pass through leave the electrons to create a useful electrical current. All set to hit market testing around 2011, it will come with a price tag of $2000, which is not a bad deal to lower down your household power consumption, is it?
