Warm up to the West End Wall Fire from European Home

I live in a place where the weather renders fireplaces unnecessary. My idea of fireplaces are limited by what I have come across on TV. Is it really my painfully limited knowledge about them, or has it been almost a rule all along that all fireplaces are supposed to have a huge grate, roaring fire and broad metal bars?

The West End Wall Fire from European Home took me by surprise. The first thing that struck me about it was its amazing sleekness. It is as sleek as a plasma screen TV. Seriously, and that’s just the beginning of the many ways in which it differs from your regular fireplace.

Instead of caving into your wall, it elegantly hangs from your wall like a picture, minus any framing. It vents through a termination hole bore into the wall against which it is hung. All you need would be a gas line of either Natural Gas or Liquid Propane connected to it. The rest of the installation process is a piece of cake.

The West End Wall Fire ensures a clean fire. No more ashes and bits of wood sputtering out onto your carpet. That doesn’t in any way mean that the fire isn’t warm, crisp and cozy. As an added bonus, jutting out of the wall by only 7 5/8”, it saves considerable space, which is a big thing if you are one of those many people who are always pressed for space in a cramped apartment.

Coming back to its looks which had me in the first place, it owes its sophisticated appearance mainly to the brushed stainless steel surround. As for the surround, take your pick from these three sizes: 54” L x 28” H, 48” L x 28” H and 48” L x 34” H. The credit for its gorgeous looks is shared by the black enamel interior which reflects the flames. The manufacturers have also thrown in a fire glass and a remote control.
